Any O scale model can be converted into a Proto48 model by changing out the trucks or wheel sets.
The same is true for the O scale trucks. Most O scale trucks can be converted into a Proto48 truck by replacing the O scale wheel sets with Proto48 wheel sets. These conversions sometimes require some narrowing or replacement of the truck bolsters. Understand that most O scale trucks do not have back of side frame detail, most notable the back of the journal box is usually flush with the side frame to allow the larger O scale wheels to fit.
